Uttarakhand government calls complete ban on Gutka, Pan Masala
The Uttarakhand government has called a complete ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of the Tobacco products like Gutka and Pan Masala. The government have called the ban on all the products having a high content of tobacco and nicotine.
The order of this effect was issued by Food Safety Commissioner Nitesh Kumar Jha on Friday evening. The decision has taken after looking at the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine-based chewing products like Gutka and Pan Masala on human health.
Explaining the reasons behind the ban, the orders read, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India prohibits use of tobacco and nicotine as an ingredient in any product meant for human consumption but it has been found that gutka, pan masala and several other similar products being sold under different names continue to have a high content of them as components.
Earlier the government of India called a complete ban on E-cigarettes in the country and after that many leaders and state government asked the ban on Tobacco products as well.
