Bhopal: The city is set to shine during the upcoming Navratri festival, and the Nagar Palika has taken the initiative to repair the streetlights that have been out of order for months.

With the festival just around the corner, the Nagar Palika has finally taken steps to repair the streetlights on Old AB Road, which had been lying dark for months. The move aims to ensure that the entire road, including other areas, is well-lit during the Navratri celebrations. Additionally, the civic body is also working on cleanliness drives to ensure the city looks its best.

Despite the efforts, however, many areas in the city still lack proper lighting, causing inconvenience to residents. The Suthaliya Bypass road, for instance, remains dark, with hardly any streetlights in sight. The 3-kilometre stretch is particularly problematic, with over a dozen streetlights out of order. The area is home to several schools, and students, especially girls, face difficulties commuting in the evening due to the lack of lighting.

The Nagar Palika's efforts to repair the streetlights are a welcome move, but more needs to be done to ensure that the entire city is well-lit and safe, especially during the festive season.
