The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) results today, September 16, on its official website. Now, the participating universities will prepare merit lists based on the students’ CUET scores.
Delhi University is the first among participating universities to launch a common registration (Common Seat Allocation System or CSAS) portal. The prestigious University also had the highest number of CUET applicants marking it as their preference. So how will Delhi University now prepare its merit list for different programmes?
After the announcement of the CUET UG results, all participating universities now have access to the scorecards of all applicants. “With this access, universities will be able to verify the scores the applicants are filling in separately at the time of applying to a university,” said a senior NTA official.
With the DU registration window closing on October 3, the University will have all the required data of applicants along with their programme and college preferences and their CUET scores.
The University’s authorities will calculate applicants’ merit list (for a specific programme or a group of programmes) by adding the normalised marks of the four subjects/papers stated under the eligibility criteria of a given programme or programmes. Programmes which have the same eligibility criteria might have a common merit list, said Haneet Gandhi, DU Dean (Admissions).
For example, for humanities honours programmes, a student must have appeared for the CUET test in one language paper, any two papers covered under the B1 subject list and another one from either the B1 or B2 list. The University will give ‘equal weightage' to the four eligibility subjects by adding the ‘normalised marks’. DU will rank the applicants, based on this totalling of normalised marks, of the concerned programme or a group of programmes with the same eligibility requirement. In case an applicant has taken the test in 5-6 subjects, then the University will choose the subjects in which the applicant has the highest score.
In case of a tie, where more than two applicants have the same CUET score and have chosen the same programme and colleges. The University will use these criteria.
- The University will give preference to the applicant who has scored more in the best three subjects of the Class 12 Board examination.
- The University will give preference to the applicant who has scored more in the best four subjects of the Class 12 Board exam.
- The University will give preference to the applicant who has scored the most in the best five subjects of the Class 12 Board exam.
- If all the above-mentioned criteria fail then the older applicant will be given preference.
The registration window for the DU on the Common Seat Allocation System portal closes on October 3. After this, the university will prepare the merit lists and start the allotment of seats around October 9–10.
