Sawai Madhopur: Medical College Admission Dreams Shattered Again

Sawai Madhopur: The dream of getting admission into a medical college has been shattered once again for the students.

The construction work of the medical college in Sawai Madhopur is still incomplete. Despite being announced four years ago, the project has only reached 90% completion.

The medical college was announced in October 2019, but the construction work started late due to land disputes.

The project was initially awarded to a company from Noida, but due to delays, the contract was later given to another company.

A team from the National Medical Commission (NMC) inspected the construction site and found that the regular faculty was lacking, and the college building was not complete.

The NMC reported that the construction work was 90% complete, but it is unclear when the remaining 10% will be finished.

The deadline for completing the construction work was set for January 20, but it has been delayed again. The project is being implemented in two phases.

In the first phase, the medical college is being built at Rs 83.85 crore, while in the second phase, a medical hospital will be constructed for Rs 340 crore. The central government will bear 60% of the cost, while the state government will bear 40%.

Dr Mahesh Meena, the nodal officer of the medical college, said that the team from NMC had pointed out some shortcomings, including the lack of regular faculty and incomplete college building. A letter is being written to the higher authorities to complete the remaining work.

The students who were hoping to get admission into the medical college will have to wait again, as the dream of getting admission into the medical college remains unfulfilled.
