Bikaner (Rajasthan): The online admission process for colleges in the state began on June 10. However, even after a week, only about 50% of the seats have been filled, with the deadline for applications being June 19. In light of this, there is a possibility that the Commissioner of College Education may extend the application deadline. Meanwhile, one college has decided to promote admissions by visiting houses in the surrounding area, in order to increase applications and ensure that classes can begin on time.

Only Half of Seats Filled

In the four government colleges in the city, only about 50% of the total seats have been filled. Out of a total of 5,190 seats, only 2,247 applications have been received so far. At Dungar College, only 1,305 applications have been received out of 3,420 seats. At Maharani Sudarshan Girls' College, 843 applications have been received out of 1,410 seats. Similarly, at Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya, Gangashahar, only 64 applications have been received out of 200 seats, and at Rajkiya Kanya College, MDVI, only 30 applications have been received out of 160 seats.

Door-to-Door Promotion

As part of the admission process, colleges are promoting admissions by visiting houses in the surrounding area, in order to increase applications.

According to Dr. Rajendra Purohit, Principal of Rajkiya Kanya College, MDVI, "The application process may pick up pace after the extension of the deadline."
