Alwar (Rajasthan) : The wait for new buses of Rajasthan Roadways is about to end. The first batch of BS-6 model buses is expected to arrive in July.

In the first phase, the depots in the National Capital Region (NCR) will get priority. This means that Alwar, Matsya Nagar, and Tijara depots will receive the largest number of buses, helping to alleviate the shortage of buses in these areas.

The Rajasthan Roadways headquarters has ordered 590 new BS-6 model buses. In the first phase, around 200 buses will be delivered, with tenders for all procedures already completed. It is expected that these buses will arrive in the first or second week of July. Out of these 200 buses, around 40-40 buses will go to the Alwar and Matsya Nagar depots, and 10-15 buses will go to the Tijara depot.

NCR Depots to Get Priority

The main reason for giving priority to NCR depots is that the scrap policy has been implemented in this region. Under this policy, 10-year-old diesel or 15-year-old petrol vehicles are not allowed to operate. Many buses from Alwar, Matsya Nagar, and Tijara depots travel to Delhi. However, only BS-6 model vehicles are being allowed to enter Delhi, and Rajasthan Roadways has only BS-3 and BS-4 model buses. Therefore, only BS-6 model buses are being sent on the Delhi route.

Alwar and Matsya Nagar Depots to Get More Buses

Out of the 170 buses in Alwar and Matsya Nagar depots, 56 buses are over 10 years old. Fitness certificates for 18 of these buses have expired, and they have been taken out of service and sent to the depot's workshop. In the next two months, the fitness of 38 more buses will expire, and they will also be taken out of service. This means that 56 buses from these two depots will be off the road.

Long-Distance Routes May Also Be Started

Most buses in Alwar and Matsya Nagar depots are old. Due to the poor condition of the buses, many long-distance routes are not operational. With the arrival of new buses, long-distance routes may be started from Alwar Central Bus Stand.

Rajasthan Roadways' first batch of new buses is expected to arrive in July. In the first phase, buses will be prioritized for NCR depots.
