Bikaner: Ward No. 3 Sees Peaceful Polling with Over 59% Voter Turnout

Bikaner: The by-election in Ward No. 3 of the Nagar Nigam area concluded peacefully on Thursday. A total of 59.39% of voters exercised their franchise in the by-poll, with 3340 voters casting their votes out of the total 5624 registered voters in the ward.

The voter turnout was lower compared to the 2019 elections, with a decrease of around 15% in the number of votes cast. However, the number of registered voters in the ward has increased by 629 since the last election.

The polling process, which began at 7 am and concluded at 5 pm, saw long queues of voters outside the polling booths. The counting of votes will take place on Friday at 9 am at the Rathi Khana-based EVM Warehouse, and the results will be declared thereafter.

Security Arrangements were Foolproof

The security arrangements in place during the by-poll were foolproof, with a sufficient number of police personnel deployed outside the polling booths. Police officials kept a close watch on the proceedings throughout the day.

Political Parties and Independent Candidates were Active

Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), as well as independent candidates, were active during the by-poll, with their workers and supporters seen canvassing for votes throughout the day. Notable BJP leaders, including City President Vijay Acharya, Deputy Mayor Rajendra Panwar, and Mohan Suraana, were present in the ward, while INC leaders, including City President Yashpal Gehlot, Shrilal Vyas, and Manoj Kiradu, were also seen mobilizing support for their candidates.

Ramdevra Fair Affects Voter Turnout

The ongoing Ramdevra Fair is believed to have affected the voter turnout, with many voters from the ward reportedly participating in the fair or providing services to the pilgrims. This, along with a general lack of enthusiasm among voters, is being cited as a reason for the lower voter turnout.
