Bhopal: New Committees Formed to Boost Healthcare Workers' Safety
Bhopal: In a significant move to ensure the safety and security of healthcare workers, the government has formed two committees to prevent violence and ensure a safe working environment for medical staff. The decision comes in the wake of the Supreme Court's directions to ensure the safety of healthcare workers following the incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The two committees, 'Health Institution Security Committee' and 'Institutional Violence Prevention Committee', will work together to provide a safe and secure environment for healthcare workers. The committees will monitor and address any security concerns, prevent violence, and ensure that healthcare workers are not subjected to any kind of harassment or mistreatment.
The 'Health Institution Security Committee' will be headed by the Collector, Praveen Singh, and will include officials from the administration, police, and health department. The committee will conduct regular security audits, identify potential security risks, and take necessary measures to prevent unauthorized entry, theft, and violence.
The 'Institutional Violence Prevention Committee' will be headed by Dr Sudhir Kumar Dehari, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), and will include members from the health department, police, and other stakeholders. The committee will develop a response plan to deal with emergency situations, such as violent mobs, and will conduct regular mock drills to ensure preparedness.
The committees will also ensure that healthcare institutions have CCTV cameras, access control systems, and security personnel to prevent any kind of violence or harassment. In addition, the committees will establish police outposts within the premises of healthcare institutions to ensure a rapid response to any security concerns.
The government has also directed that any incident of violence or harassment against healthcare workers will be dealt with promptly and effectively, and necessary action will be taken against the perpetrators.
The formation of these committees is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of healthcare workers, who often face violence and harassment while performing their duties.
