Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal is on a record-breaking spree. The action entertainer, which had released on Wednesday, strikes gold at the Indian Box Office and overseas alike.

Catch had previously reported that Mersal had minted a massive Rs. 6.11 crore to become the all-time second biggest opener in Kerala after Baahubali 2.

However, not many are aware that Mersal had set another record with its impressive opening day collections in Kerala.

The Thalapathy starrer also crossed the Kerala lifetime collections of Thala Ajith's Vivegam and Shah Rukh Khan's Raees on its opening day. Vivegam minted Rs. 5.45 crore from its entire run in Kerala whereas the SRK starrer's lifetime collection across the state was Rs. 3.88 crore.

As per early Friday trends, Mersal is rock steady and continuing its strong dominance on third day as well in Kerala.
