West Bengal: Warning Shots Fired to Deter Infiltrators
Kolkata: Amidst the unrest in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified its vigilance along the India-Bangladesh border. In a bid to deter infiltrators, the BSF fired warning shots at Zero Point, alerting hundreds of people attempting to cross the border.
According to BSF officials, the situation turned tense when around 200 villagers from Bangladesh's Thakurgaon district tried to enter India. Most of them were members of the Awami League. The situation further escalated when former MP Kamarul Arfin, his wife, and two daughters attempted to cross the border without valid visas.
BSF Foils Multiple Infiltration Attempts
The BSF has successfully thwarted several infiltration attempts along the international border in North Bengal. The force has been keeping a close watch on the border, and all those who attempted to infiltrate have been sent back to Bangladesh.
In another incident, six people were stopped at Zero Point, while two Awami League leaders were intercepted at the Darshana border outpost. The BSF has been working tirelessly to prevent any unwanted entry into the country.
Villagers Alerted to Identify Infiltrators
The BSF has also been engaging with local villagers, educating them on how to identify and report infiltrators. Assistant Commandant Manoj Kumar of the 92nd Battalion held a meeting with villagers and cautioned them to be vigilant. He advised them to report any suspicious activity and warned them against harbouring infiltrators.
As the Bangladesh crisis deepens, the BSF is working to maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas. The force is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the border remains secure.
