Youth swept away in Menal River, search operation continues
Chittorgarh: In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old youth, Kanhaiyalal Bairwa, was swept away in the Menal River in Bhilwara district on Monday while taking a selfie. The search operation for the missing youth continued for the second day on Tuesday, with a team of 70 people, including local divers, SDRF, and NDRF, involved in the rescue efforts.
According to eyewitnesses, Kanhaiyalal, a resident of Bhawani Nagar, Bhilwara, had come to the Menal River with his friend Akshit Dhobi (17) for a picnic. While taking a selfie, Kanhaiyalal slipped and fell into the river, getting swept away by the strong current.
Local divers and SDRF teams were immediately called in to search for the missing youth. The search operation continued till late night on Monday, but due to darkness and strong currents, the efforts had to be suspended. The operation resumed on Tuesday morning, with NDRF teams joining the search efforts.
As of Tuesday evening, the youth's body had not been found, despite the efforts of the 70-member search team. The local administration, including Sub-Divisional Officer Mansvi Naresh, Police Sub-Inspector Anjali Singh, and Tehsildar Dharmendra Swami, were present at the spot, overseeing the rescue operations.
The NDRF team, equipped with modern gadgets, joined the search efforts on Tuesday afternoon, and a thorough search operation was conducted. However, the youth's body was still missing.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the region, and the local administration is doing its best to locate the missing youth. The search operation is expected to continue on Wednesday as well.
