At Opposition's joint presser to 'Save Democracy', TDP's Naidu says 'EVM's can be seen being manipulated'

In a bid to conduct a transparent election and save democracy, the Opposition parties held a joint press conference in Delhi and demanded the Election Commission to take note of the grave issues of EVM malfunction and said they would present their case in the Supreme Court.

Leading the baton, Telgu Desam Party’s chief Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Electronic Voting Machine’s were seen to be tampered in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election conducted on April 11 and added that the poll body needs to acknowledge the concern over the deletion of names from the voter list and the VVPAT issue as well.

“EVMs can be seen being manipulated. I am working to save democracy,” said Naidu. As per reports, along side TDP and Congress, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal is also present at the joint presser of the Opposition.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was present at the conference said, “Questions were raised after the 1st phase of election,we don't think EC is paying adequate attention. If you press the button before X Party,vote goes to Y party. VVPAT displays only for 3 seconds, instead of 7 seconds.”

Singhvi further added this will be their demand in the apex court and said, “Names of Lakhs of voters are deleted online without physical verification. There is a long list the parties have given to EC. It has become even more necessary to count at least 50% of the paper trail of VVPAT. We will demand the same in Supreme Court.”

Earlier, the Election Commission has rubbished the claims of Andhra Pradesh CM about EVM tampering and had added that why a Hari K Prasad, who was arrested in 2010 on the charges of stealing an EVM and proving that they are tampered, was accompanying the delegation of Chandrababu Naidu.
