Virat Kohli matches Shahid Afridi's long standing T20 milestone
Indian skipper Virat Kohli displayed a brilliant knock of unbeaten 72 runs as he crused team India to a seven wickets victory over South Africa in the second T20I match on Wednesday at Mohali.
With this formidable innings, Kohli went on to break gluts of record as he continued to impress the fans with some sensational batting. The skipper knocked three sixes and four fours in his innings as he wrecked the Proteas bowling unit with his formidable skills.
In the process, Kohli grabbed his 11th man of the match award, which helped him equal Shahid Afridi (11) on the second spot in the all time list.
Furthermore, Virat Kohli also went pass Rohit Sharma to become the highest scoring batsman in T20I cricket, the skipper now possess 2,441 runs from 71 games as he once again took his T20 average beyond 50.
Virat Kohli also went onto score his 22nd fifty in T20I and overtook Rohit Sharma’s tally of 21. Kohli now has most fifty plus scores in T20Is.
The Indian skipper also became the only cricketer to have his batting average above 50 across all three formats. Virat Kohli now averages 53.14 in Test, 60.31 in ODIs and 50.85 in T20Is. This is not the first instance that Kholi has attained this landmark. He averaged above 50 in all three formats last year.
South Africa succumbed to seven wickets defeat against India in the second T20I at Mohali. The first T20I was washed out due to incessant rain. The two heavyweights will now face eachother on Sunday at Bengaluru.
