ICC snubs Virat Kohli in World Cup XI team after below-par performance in tournament
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today released the World Cup XI team and surprisingly Indian skipper Virat Kohli found no place in the list. The world number one batsman had a below-par World Cup as he couldn’t conquer the tournament with his bat and ICC's decision to not include him in the team is acceptable.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma and pacer Jasprit Bumrah found a place in the World Cup XI team with New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson as their captain. Three players from World Cup winning team England was also in the list, while three from the runners-up New Zealand got a place. Two players from Australia and one from Bangladesh was also included.
Tournament's highest run-scorer Rohit Sharma and highest wicket-taker Mitchell Starc was bound to find a place with one of the best performers Shakib Al Hasan, but David Warner's exclusion came as a surprise as he scored an amazing 647 runs for Australia with three centuries.
Here’s ICC’s team of the tournament:
Jason Roy (England) - 443 runs at 63.28
Rohit Sharma (India) - 648 runs at 81.00
