The Indian Premier League 2019 has seen a lot of things in last 20 days. There were some nail biting matches and some spectacular fielding. IPL is one such tournament where top international players come and play with the local boys, so we expect to see some great cricket. Let’s take a look at some of the best catches of this season.
In a match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, KL Rahul took an amazing catch at deep extra cover to dismiss Steve Smith off Sam Curran’s ball. Steve Smith was dismissed for just 20 runs and Kings XI Punjab went on to win the match by 14 runs.
Rajasthan Royals’ Dhawal Kulkarni took a catch at the boundary line to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Jonny Bairstow. Dhawan took the catch at long-on off Ben Stokes’ ball to dismiss Bairstow for 45. Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan by 5 wickets.
In a match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings Kieron Pollard took a one handed blinder to dismiss Suresh Raina off Jason Behrendorff’s ball. Raina was at 16 runs when Pollard took a catch at deep mid-wicket. That’s the only match Chennai has lost this season.
This is probably the best catch by far, when Ben Stokes dives to his left to pluck the ball off the air. Stokes took the catch to dismiss Kedar Jadhav for just 1 run off Jofra Archer’s ball. Chennai Super Kings won the match by 4 wickets after a last over drama.
Jos Buttler took a fantastic catch behind the stumps to dismiss KL Rahul in a match between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. Kings XI Punjab won the match by 14 runs.
Rishabh Pant took a one handed catch to dismiss Chris Lynn off Kagiso Rabada’s ball. This was the only match in IPL 2019 that was tied and Delhi Capitals won it after a Super Over.
Shreyas Gopal pulled off an amazing catch running backwards in a match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Shreyas Gopal took the catch to dismiss Ambati Rayudu off Ben Stokes’ ball. The match was won by Chennai Super Kings by 4 wickets.
Faf du Plessis took an astonishing catch to dismiss Robin Uthappa in a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. Faf came running from long-on point to mid-on to pull off the catch. CSK won the match by 5 wickets.
