The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a team for the upcoming World Cup. Hardik Pandya was selected in the team and he justified his selection by performing in yesterday’s game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Hardik Pandya scored a fluent 37 runs from just 16 balls. Pandya’s knock included two sixes and five fours. Hardik Pandya had to come because Moeen Ali knocked both the openers out after they made a 70 run partnership.
Suryakumar Yadav played a little cameo alongside Ishan Kishan as they scored 29 and 21 runs respectively before Ishan was caught behind the stumps off Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling. Krunal Pandya came in but was struggling as he could only contribute 11 runs with the bat and hit the ball at a srikerate of 52.38.
Hardik Pandya took the matters into his own hands and started hitting the ball before its too late. Pawan Negi registered a bowling figure of (0 6 4 4 6 Wd 1) and finished the game inside 19 overs. Pandya was awarded the game changer of the match and the super striker of the match trophies for his match winning performance at a strike rate of 231.
Mumbai Indians went on to win the match by 5 wickets and Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their seventh match of the season. Mumbai Indians are now sitting as number three on the points table, while RCB is at number eight.
Hardik Pandya will play the World Cup for India in June this year and his performances in IPL gives hope to Indian fans. World Cup will start from May 30 in England and Wales and India will play their first match against South Africa.
