Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is a born leader. He guided the national team when they were in need of a great patriarch. Sourav Ganguly has made his side win several honours under his leadership. He is one of those Indians that is being admired by the Pakistani cricketers and fans.

The day news pertaining to Sourav Ganguly taking over as the new BCCI chief broke in, it poured a huge amount of wishes. Frist of, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar lauded the former Indian skipper for taking a new role in Indian cricket and now Pakistan’s Rashid Latif has conveyed something new about Ganguly.

Rashid Latif believes that this appointment can positively impact Indian cricket in the future. When Rashid was questioned about his take on Ganguly, he gave a whole new prespective to it and feels that Ganguly is a soil that has produced numerous leaders.

“I look at it a little differently than others. Bengal is a place that has given a lot of leaders, even during the freedom movement before partition. Sourav belongs to the same land. He has been handling the administration of a big organisation like the Cricket Association of Bengal. Among all big players who have entered administration Ganguly perhaps is at the top of the list,” Rashid said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

He also pointed of the fact that Ganguly is concerned about the development of domestic cricket and is motivated to close the vent between international cricket and first class cricket.

“So far what I have read and heard, I think his focus is on further improving domestic cricket…He has also spoken in the past about changes but could not get it done. He also wants to reduce the monetary gap between international cricket and first-class cricket.” he added.

Rashid Latif has featured in 37 Test and 166 ODIs in which he cumulated over 3,000 international runs.
