Sourav Ganguly gives cheeky reply to question on Ravi Shastri

Sourav Ganguly’s imminent appointment as BCCI chief has induced fervent reactions from former players and fans. But it was former Indian skippers cheeky response to a question on Indian head coach Ravi Shastri that has gone viral.

After filing his nomination for the post of BCCI president, Ganguly held a press conference, where he was asked question on Ravi Shastri.

"Have you spoken with Ravi Shastri?" a reporter asked Ganguly. To which, he asnwered, stating, “why? What has he done now?” with a chuckle. Sourav Ganguly’s response has gone viral.

After all, Ganguly and Shastri haven’t been in good terms for a while now.

Relations between the two exacerbated in 2016 during the appointment process for the Indian coach. Shastri had also terdered for the position, but the Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, had opted for Anil Kumble.

Ravi Shastri had thereupon accused Ganguly of being absent during his interview. Ganguly later stated, “If Shastri thinks i was behind the appointment of Anil Kumble as the coach and not him, then he is living in a fools paradise.”

excitingly, Sourav Ganguly has also stated that he will inquire about MS Dhoni’s future on 24th October, when the selection committee will meet to pick the T20 squad for the series against Bangladesh.

MS Dhoni has distanced himself from cricket after India’s early exit from the ICC World Cup 2019 against New Zealand.

Sourav Ganguly will officially take over as the new BCCI chief at the board’s annual meeting on 23rd October.
