The family members of Martyrized Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar are demanding a national martyrs status. The family member of Sukhdev, on Thursday, said that the gave their lives for the country, but still, even after 70 years of Independence, they have not been given the status of martyrs.

The family members of Sukhdev have warned the centre that if their demands of giving the three freedom fighters a status of martyrs are not been fulfilled then they will go on a hunger strike.
A relative of Sukhdev said, "Our demand is that they should be given the status of martyrs. We are going to Delhi on Friday. We will place our demands there. If our demands are not met then we will go on hunger strike."

Sukhdev was a senior member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru he was hanged on 23rd March 1931 at the age of 23 by British police officer JP Saunders in Lahore in 1928 for the 'assassination'. Shivaram Hari Rajguru was from Maharashtra's Khed, which was renamed as Rajgurunagar in honour.
Bhagat Singh acts of bravery against the British rulers made him a hero of the Independence movement. He was executed at age 23.
