SC/ST Act: After 'Bharat Bandh' violence, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh express their commitment to Dalit empowerment.

After Bharat Bandh Violence, Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh came out to show their commitment for the welfare and empowerment of Dalit community.

Commenting over the allegation of dilution of SC/ST Act, he said "Through the House, I want to assure the people that there has been no dilution whatsoever by my government, rather after coming to power and examining the SC/ST prevention Atrocities Act, we have taken a decision to strengthen it”.


Recently the Supreme Court ruled out automatic arrest and FIR under SC/ST Act. The judgment  made non-bailable offence bailable.

Supporting the anger of Dalit community, he said "I fully appreciate that there is widespread anger amongst the people following the Supreme Court order. I wish to inform the House that the Government of India was not party in that case. People have taken to the streets."

On other hand, BJP National president Amit Shah said his government made a lot of efforts to make Dalit sisters and brothers. They will fulfill the dream of Dalits.

“We will continue our efforts to make our Dalit sisters and brothers the makers of New India. We will fulfill their aspirations and dreams. Jai Bhim! Jai Hind!,” Shah said on twitter.

Commenting on the Bharat Bandh violence, Shah said “Due to the politically driven manifestations of a microscopic minority of dejected and rejected political parties, crores of innocent people suffered. These parties owe our Dalit sisters and brothers an apology for their misdeeds”.

Expressing commitment to the welfare of the BJP, he said “At every juncture and in all possible ways, @BJP4India stands shoulder to shoulder with the Dalit community. Modi Government’s commitment to fulfilling Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision is unwavering. All the efforts of the Government are aimed at transforming the lives of Dalits”.

“Right from the day the Honourable Supreme Court gave a judgment on SC/ST Atrocities Act, Central Government acted in an immediate and informed manner. An effective review petition has been filed that will protect rights of Dalits,” he added.
