Trump holds 'Make America Great Again' rally in Phoenix

United States President Trump has reaffirmed that activists are trying to "take away" U.S. history and culture by calling for the removal of Confederate statues amid a national debate, in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"They're trying to take away our culture. They're trying to take away our history," Trump said while addressing a rally at Phoenix,Arizona..

He then blamed "weak, weak people" for allowing statues' removal.

"And our weak leaders, they do it overnight. These things have been there for 150 years, for a hundred years. You go back to a university and it's gone. Weak, weak people. We are going to protect American history," Trump said.

He mentioned the healthcare's so-called "skinny repeal" vote that didn't pass the Senate. Sen. John McCain cast the deciding "no" vote, despite lobbing from Trump himself just before the vote.

"We were just one vote away from victory after seven years of everybody proclaiming: repeal and replace," he said. He repeated five more times that repeal was just one vote away. The crowd started chanting, "Drain the swamp."

Listing out his achievements, Trump said his administration is working on a mission "Buy American and Hire American" to make America great again.

"I don't believe that any president has accomplished as much as this president in the first six or seven months," Trump claimed while he was addressing a mammoth rally at Phoenix, Arizona.

Trump claimed that under his leadership, the United States has achieved the lowest unemployment rate in 17 years, adding that under his administration he believes that "wages will go up." Trump noted his hope that the combination of low unemployment and higher wages can calm some of the tension in race relations.

Trump cited his appointment of the new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, 31 federal judge appointments, 50 signed bills and his administration's elimination of "job-killing" regulations.

Trump promised that "our beloved nation will succeed and we will make America great again."

Promising tax reform, Trump said, "We are committed the passing the first major tax reform in 30 years."

He said that he hopes to reduce taxes on businesses and corporations, adding that he plans to enact the "biggest tax cut in the history of our country."

"It's time to pass a tax cut for the middle class families," Trump said.

President Trump emphasised that negotiations talks of the NAFTA with Canada and Mexico would not achieve a successful end.

"I think we'll probably end up terminating the NAFTA at some point," Trump said.

"We have been so badly taken advantage of," Trump said.

"Personally, I don't think you can make a deal," he added, noting that if a mutual agreement to reform the North American Free Trade Agreement cannot be met, the United States will plan to withdraw.

Trump indirectly mocked Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake, saying "I won't mention any names."

"See I haven't mention any names," Trump ridiculed as he made references to Sen. John McCain's vote which caused the Senate's repeal of the Affordable Care Act to fail. He also referenced Sen. Jeff Flake without using his specific name, calling him "your other senator who is weak on borders and weak on crime." He called on the crowd to speak to their senators.

Terming Democrats as 'obstructionists', United States President Donald Trump threatened to shut down the federal government to make sure his proposed border wall with Mexico is approved and funded by lawmakers.

"Build that wall. Now the obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, but believe me we have to close down our government, we're building that wall," Trump said on Tuesday, during a rally in Phoenix.
