Mobile World Congress 2018: Nokia Unveils its most beautiful smartphone to date
HMD Global, the manufacturer of Nokia mobile phones, has unveiled its five new devices at the ongoing MWC 2018 being held at Barcelona. The five devices unveiled include Nokia 6(new variant), Nokia 7, Nokia 8 sirocco, Nokia 1 and a revamped version of Nokia 8110.
The iconic Nokia 8110 which had its own distinctive style with a slider opening design now comes with 4G connectivity and loads of Google apps that include Google Assistant, Google maps, Google search, Facebook and Twitter.
Florian Seiche, CEO HMD Global, in a statement said, "This time last year, we started our journey with huge expectations from fans and a massive responsibility to deliver on the legacy of one of the most innovative brands in our space. Last year we shipped over 70 million Nokia phones,".
The device includes features like slide to answer and disconnect phones. The phone also supports VoLTE calling and comes with Qualcomm 205 platform. The phone also comes with a revamped version of the iconic snake game.
Nokia 8110 will be available from May for a global average retail price of 79 euros, excluding taxes and subsidies.
"We are delighted to announce the expansion of our range with the introduction of five new devices, setting new benchmarks in smartphone design with Nokia 8 Sirocco and delivering our most accessible smartphone to date in Nokia 1," said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global.
The three new Android smartphones-- Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 6's new variant are to join the Android one Family and will provide the customers with high-end software experience designed by Google.
HMD Globals is also going to launch Nokia 8 sirocco sporting a 5.5-inch display with QHD resolution 3D glass OLED display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor which is supported by 6/8GB of RAM. Nokia 8 sirocco comes with 128 GB of internal memory which can be expanded by a MicroSD card.
According to the company, the performance powerhouse has been designed with great care and is arguably their most beautiful smartphone to date. It will be available starting April at a global average retail price of 749 euros.
The Nokia 7 plus comes with enhanced 'dual-sight', dual rear sensors with Zeiss optics. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Chipset and 3800 mAh battery.
Nokia 1 is an Android Oreo Go edition smartphone which is designed to be smooth and responsive, with full access to the Google Play Store. The Go edition Smartphones are made keeping in mind low-end hardware supported with optimized light-weighted software support that is especially supported by Google.
It will be available for a global average retail price of $85 making it one of the cheapest smartphones available in the market.
The device supports "Xpress-on" covers which will be sold separately for $7.99 in Azure, Grey, Yellow and Pink colours.
