Bastar Faces Lumpy Virus Outbreak: Calls for Urgent Administrative Action

 

Bastar: The outbreak of the Lumpy virus has started in Bastar district, and the administration is under pressure to take immediate action to control the spread of the disease.

The Bajrang Dal and VHP have submitted a memorandum to the joint director of animal husbandry services, demanding the establishment of a quarantine centre and the closure of animal markets to prevent the spread of the virus.

According to Ghanshyam Nag, district coordinator of Bajrang Dal, many cattle owners lost their livestock due to the virus last year, and the situation is still grim.

The virus has been detected in several areas, including Kangoli, Dharampura, Kumhar Para, Lalbagh, Tetar Kuti, and rural areas like Tokapal, Bastar Lohandiguda.

Nag said that the administration had set up a quarantine centre in Kangoli Parpa last year to treat infected cattle and prevent the spread of the virus to healthy animals.

The markets in Pamela, Dimrapal, and Lohandiguda were also closed to prevent the entry of infected cattle from other states.

The memorandum was submitted by a delegation of Bajrang Dal and VHP members, including Rohan Kumar, Prachar Prasar Vibhag, Munna Bajrangi, Bhavani Singh Chauhan, Ajay Yadav, Sunny Rai, Nitesh Sethi, Sunder Kashyap, Tamish Naidu, Shatrughan Kashyap, Rohit Jha, Dharmendra Sethi, Aman Dhivar, Kashinath Chalaki, and Ashish Naidu.

The delegation demanded that the administration take immediate action to control the spread of the virus and protect the livestock in the district.
