Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal has successfully completed its third weekend on a good note at the Box Office worldwide. The action-entertainer, which had released as a Diwali release on 18 October has set the Box Office on fire by clocking Rs. 100 crore within its opening week. Directed by Atlee, Mersal starred the Tamil superstar in triple roles.

By the end of its third theatrical run, Mersal has grossed a whopping Rs. 220 crores worldwide. Be it in India or overseas, Mersal turned out to be the career-best film of Vijay across the cinemas. Mersal also emerged as the all-time fourth highest grosser in the history of Tamil cinema. The Thalapathy starrer is now only behind Rajinikanth blockbusters Kabali, Enthiran and Chiyaan Vikram's I among the all-time top Tamil grossers list.

Apart from Vijay's performance, the GST dialogue controversy has hugely worked in favor of Mersal to gain a global-wide attention.
