It's known that two of the Akshay Kumar starrers are slated to clash each other during the upcoming Republic Day weekend at the Box Office. While the makers of his debut Tamil film 2.0 announced the release date of the film as 25 January 2018, Akshay Kumar surprised everyone by announcing the release date of his first Bollywood film of 2018, Padman as 26 January 2018.

Though there were strong reports from trade that two films of a superstar film will not be clashed together, Akshay Kumar finally confirmed the release dates of his upcoming films.

The Airlift actor stated in a recent interview:

"There is no way that both 2.0 and Padman will release on the same day. It’s either 2.0 or Padman as a Republic Day special. While Padman is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release 2.0 on Republic Day or not. If they do, I will postpone Padman and if they don’t, I will go ahead,” Akshay Kumar said.

Directed by Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions, 2.0 is touted as the costliest Indian film. The film stars Amy Jackson in the female lead role.
