BSP to Contest Alone in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections

In a significant decision, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has decided to contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections alone. The party has started preparing for the elections on a large scale and has sent several senior leaders to Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen its organization.

According to Rajaram, former MP and BSP's coordinator in Jammu and Kashmir, the party has a strong organization in the state and has won seats in the past. In 2002, the BSP won one seat, and in 1996, it won four seats. The party is focusing on the Jammu region, where there is a significant vote bank of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes.

Focus on Jammu Region

Under the guidance of national president Mayawati, the party is preparing for the elections, discussing strategies and tactics. The party is also focusing on the Jammu region, where there is a large Muslim Gurjar population. Darshan Rana, BSP's Jammu and Kashmir president, said that the party will soon decide on the number of seats it will contest.

No Alliance with Any Party

Rana further stated that the BSP will not form an alliance with any party and will contest the elections alone. The party had also contested the Lok Sabha elections and is confident of winning in Jammu and Kashmir. The BSP had announced in its national executive meeting that it will contest the Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, and will also field candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh.
