DMK Minister Durai Murugan hits back at Rajinikanth over 'old students' remarks

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Minister Durai Murugan has fired back at veteran actor Rajinikanth over comments about senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders. Murugan's response came in light of Rajinikanth’s recent remarks.

Comments on Age and Opportunity

In a sharp attack, Murugan remarked that young actors are missing out on opportunities due to older actors who continue to perform despite "losing teeth." His comments were made following Rajinikanth’s praise of Chief Minister MK Stalin for managing senior DMK leaders.

Rajinikanth's Praise for Stalin

Rajinikanth's comments were made during the launch of a book on former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on August 24. He compared managing senior DMK leaders to handling exceptional old students who refuse to leave the class, applauding Stalin’s ability to manage them.

Durai Murugan’s Retort

Murugan's reaction came swiftly on August 25, where he used a similar analogy to criticize Rajinikanth. He suggested that the presence of old actors continuing their careers could be seen as a hindrance to young artists seeking opportunities.

Udhayanidhi Stalin's Response

Amidst the controversy, DMK Youth and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin weighed in on August 25. He expressed that the youth are eager to join their party and emphasized the need to guide and support them, noting that Rajinikanth’s speech received significant applause.
