North Indian’s witnessed severe cold wind in the morning. On Thursday people will witness cold to severe cold day conditions in many pockets such as over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Also dense to very dense fog in many pockets very likely over Uttar Pradesh and in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. In the next 5 days dense fog to prevail in pockets over Bihar, north Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and lower reaches of Western Himalayan region.
As per the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is recorded 5.4-degree Celsius and maximum temperature 15-degree celsius. Also, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely at parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe. Snowfall has also been reported in isolated parts over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand on two days each during the week.
Air Quality Index in the middle level of very poor category today. The predominant surface wind will be coming from West-Northwest direction of Delhi having wind speed up to 15 kmph today with a mainly clear sky, moderate fog in the morning and cold day conditions at many places.
The Low-Pressure Area over southwest and adjoining the southeast Arabian Sea along with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to midtropospheric level persists.
