Weather Update: Delhi wake up to cloudy sky; rains in several parts of Punjab, Haryana

Delhi witnessed cloudy sky along with moderate fog in the morning with minimum temperature settling at 9.4 degree Celsius and maximum temperature at 19.0 degree Celsius. Cold wave conditions prevailed in Punjab and Haryana on Monday after overnight rains lashed various parts of the two states.

The minimum temperatures, however, rose several notches above the normal in these states following the downpour. In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their respective lows at 8.2 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees Celsius and 10.7 degrees Celsius, up to five degrees above the normal, a Meteorological Department official said.

Visibility recorded at 0530 hours IST of 06.01.2020 (in metre): Agra, Lucknow & Baghdora-25 each; Varanasi, Chandbali, Diamond Harbour & Silchar-50 each and Sulatanpur, Haldia, Kalasaher & Agartala-200 each. 

Dense to very dense fog observed at isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, West bengal & Sikkim, Odisha and Assam & Meghalaya and moderate fog at isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Tripura at 0530 hours IST of 06.01.2020

 

 

Air Quality Index recorded 'very poor; with AQI at 330. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe', while the AQI above 500 falls in the 'severe plus' category. By the end of the day Delhi-NCR, parts of Punjab Haryana might witness light rainfall.
