Weather: Heatwave grips parts of India; rainfall expected in Delhi, check full forecast
Heatwave conditions are expected in parts of Delhi, Agra, Meerut and Haryana today, the Indian Meteorological Department said on April 15.
Similarly, heatwave conditions are also expected in parts of Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Coastal Andhra in the next 4-5 days.
However, a fresh spell of rainfall is expected over the Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains April 16 due to the western disturbances.
According to IMD-Delhi scientist Dr Soma Sen Roy, a fresh spell of thunderstorm and rain is also expected in the northwest plains, including the national capital on April 18 and April 19.
Western Disturbance And Forecast
- A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan in lower levels with another cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood areas in lower levels.
- The IMD has also recorded a western disturbance, seen as a trough in middle tropospheric levels roughly along Long. 56°E to the north of Lat. 28°N.
- Under these disturbances, light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm is expected in Western Himalayan Region from April 15 to April 19. Rains are also expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan from April 17 to April 19.
- Hailstorm and isolated heavy rainfall are also likely over Western Himalayan Region from April 17 to April 19.
- Light showers are likely in parts of Odisha from April 16 to April 19.
- Light to moderate isolated rainfall is very likely in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada in the next 5 days.
- Light to moderate isolated rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds very expected in Coastal Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on April 15. The same conditions are likely in Telangana from April 15 to April 17 and in North Interior Karnataka from April 15 to April 19.
Maximum Temperature Forecast
- The daytime temperature is in the range of 39-42 degrees Celsius in several parts of Central and East India. The maximum temperature is above normal by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu division, Punjab and North India.
- The maximum temperatures is expected to be above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius in parts of Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next 3 to 4 days.
- For rest parts of the country, the daytime temperature is expected to be above normal by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
