Watch: After Mayawati, Navjot Singh Sidhu appeals Muslims to vote for Congress; says ‘you are majority, not minority’
Congress leader and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, who recently widely criticized over his remark on Pulwama attack and IAF airstrike Jaish camp in Balakot, has again landed into comtroversy. In an election rally in Bihar’s Katihar, Navjot Sidhu appealed to Muslim voters to vote for the Congress candidates.
Despite the Election Commission's model code of conduct in place Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu went ahead to polarise votes. "My muslim brothers and sisters, you must vote for the Congress. If you show solidarity, nobody can defeat your candidate. You are not a minority but a majority," Sidhu said.
“Main aapko chetavni dene aya hun Muslim bhaiyon,ye baant rahe hain apko,ye yahan Owaisi jaise logon ko la ke,ek nai party khadi kar aap logon ka vote baant ke jitna chahte hain.Agar tum log ikathe hue, ekjut hoke vote dala to Modi sulat jaega,' Sidhu said.
Earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati appealed Muslim voters to vote for her party making ‘Ali-Bajrangbali’ comment. "In this connection, I want to tell him (Adityanath) that both Ali and Bajrang Bali are ours.... So we want both Ali as well as Bajrang Bali," she said.
Mayawati was giving her twist to Yogi Adityanath’s remark. UP CM had earlier said, “If the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have faith in Ali, we have faith in Bajarang Bali”.
Following her comment, Election Commission has barred Mayawati from campaigning for 48 hours for violating Model Code of Conduct by making objectionable statements in their speeches.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is banned from taking out any elections campaign for 72 hours. The ban for the duo political leader came in force from 6 am today. Hours later, Election Commission has also barred SP leader Azam Khan and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi from poll campaigning for 72 hours and 48 hours respectively for violating Model Code of Conduct.
