Uttar Pradesh: Man rapes 8-year-old girl after barging into her house, arrested

An eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at her home in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra city, when she was alone, the police said on May 7.

The incident occurred while the victim's parents were out for some work, leaving the minor girl alone at home.

The police have arrested a man in connection with the case.

"Taking advantage of their absence, the accused barged into the house and sexually assaulted the minor," Vikas Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Agra said.

The accused was tracked and arrested by scanning CCTV footage in the area, the police added.

Police have registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for committing the heinous crime.

Further probe is underway.

In an unrelated incident, a three-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred when the girl did not return home, and her parents began searching for her. The girl was found unconscious.

The police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
