Stone-Pelting: Two groups clash in Jamshedpur; Internet suspended

The internet has been suspended in Jamshedpur after a clash between two groups resulted in stone-pelting. The incident reportedly occurred in the Kadma police station area and caused damage to numerous properties. The conflict arose due to the alleged desecration of a religious flag.

Security Measures and Detentions

According to Executive Magistrate Jyoti Kumari, section 144 has been imposed in the region, and forces are conducting early morning flag marches. She added that internet services would be unavailable until further notice. The entire area has seen heavy security deployment, including a Rapid Action Force (RAF) company, and some individuals have been detained, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar.

Officials Urge Caution and Cooperation

Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner East Singhbhum Vijaya Jadhav has urged individuals not to believe any rumours and report any provocative or unpleasant messages to the police. She further stated that officials were evaluating the situation and attempting to establish communication with peace committees and other stakeholders to restore normalcy.

Ongoing Investigation

The conflict and its underlying cause are currently under investigation. Despite the damages, the authorities assert that the situation is under control, and those who gathered have been dispersed. However, it is unclear when internet services will be reinstated.
