Priyanka Gandhi ready to contest against PM Modi from Varanasi: Robert Vadra

'Priyanka Gandhi ready to contest against PM Narendra Modi from Varanasi,' said husband Robert Vadra, for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls of 2019.

Speculations are high whether the Gandhi scion will contest the 2019 elections and Priyanka had earlier expressed her deed to contest the poll but from Varanasi itself, and that too against PM Narendra Modi.

Robert Vadra, who is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate, was responding to a question asked by a reporter about Priyanka Gandhi’s candidature and he said that ‘Priyanka is ready and will do anything the party wants her to do to defeat the ruling BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.’

Vadra further added to his comment that, “People are voting for change today. Priyanka is ready to do anything the party leadership wants her to do.”

Priyanka Gandhi was earlier asked about her candidature for the 2019 polls and the Congress’ General Secretary had said that if at all she would contest, then it will be Varanasi. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had appointed Priyanka as the General Secretary in-charge of the UP East for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Congress party has tried all its tactics to resist the Modi juggernaut, by multiplying its alliance partner and giving more voice and space to the regional players. The grand old party has over the period of one year, become the fulcrum of Opposition.

Priyanka Gandhi, whose resemblance with her grandmother former PM Late Indira Gandhi, gives her an edge and many citizens come out in her rallies to have a view of the Congress leader and illustrate Indira Gandhi. Priyanka has rallied across the Eastern belt of UP, where the party was able to hold on to only two seats in 2014 elections, and seven in the 2017 Assembly election.
