PFI Conspiracy Case: NIA conducts searches at 7 locations in Rajasthan

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted massive searches at as many as seven locations in Rajasthan on February 18. The searches were conducted in a case related to a conspiracy by the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) to promote hatred among different religious groups and commit terrorists acts in the country,

Three searches were conducted in Kota district, one search each was conducted in Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, Bundi and capital city Jaipur.

At which the NIA officers conducted searches were residential and commercial premises of suspects in the case which was registered suo-moto by the central agency on September 19 last year.

The agency registered the case after receiving information that PFI members - Sadiq Sarraf of Talabpada and Mohammed Asif of Sangod along with other members were engaging in unlawful activities. The information received by the sources revealed that the PFI members were also indulged in promoting violent acts and enmity among different religious groups through their provocative utterances and activities.

Last month, NIA had carried out searches at nine locations in the desert state. During the searches, the officers seized several digital devices including mobile phones, sim cards, knives, incriminating materials and posters.

"Their inflammatory speeches and lectures on various platforms inciting and disrupting sovereignty and territorial integrity of India. In pursuance to conspiracy, Sadiq Sarraf and Mohammad Asif and unknown others are radicalizing Muslim youth to commit unlawful activities and terrorists acts in various parts of India, including State of Rajasthan," a  NIA spokesperson said on January 12, as reported by Economic Times.

Further investigation in the case is in progress.
