Mumbai: 26-year-old candidate dies after collapsing during police recruitment drive
A 26-year-old candidate died during the ongoing police recruitment drive on February 17 morning in Mumbai, police said.
According to the police, deceased candidate, Gansh Uttam Ugale was participating in a 16-meter race, which was a part of physical test of the police recruitment drive. During the race, he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed on the ground.
The incident occurred at around 10:45 am at Mumbai University’s Kalina campus, where the physical tests were being conducted, Hindustan times reported. The deceased hailed from Maharashtra’s Washim district and had applied for the post of police driver constable.
The recruitment drive's instructors rushed Ganesh to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case and investigating the matter.
