The Kartarpur Corridor’s ground breaking ceremony will be happen on November 29 and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Siddhu has already left the nation to attend the event.
Siddhu, who was sent a invite by the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, left India today from the Attari-Wagah border to attend the ground breaking ceremony.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised the Kartarpur Corridor and had said that it might act as a bridging gap between the two nations and as the Berlin Wall had fell, bringing East and West Germany together.
Congress leader Navjot Singh Siddhu has said that “I feel that this corridor will be a bridge and erase enmity.”
The request to make the Kartarpur Corridor along with the Punjab’s international border was first raised by Navjot Siddhu, when he visited the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Imran Khan. Later on, it was raised in the assembly and the Government of India did not take a clear stand then.
But recently, the Cabinet passed the decision to build the corridor alongside the international border and it was praised all over. The Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Qureshi had also sent a invite to the External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, who had declined the invite, sighting a busy poll schedule and campaigning in the upcoming elections.
Navjot ingh Siddhu has also said that “I feel that this corridor will be a bridge and erase enmity. It will increase people to people contact and bring peace. It is my belief that there are possibilities in it.”
