Moose Wala murder: Friend reveals chilling details about shooting

A day following the funeral of Sidhu Moose Wala, chilling details of the attack have been revealed by a friend who was present with him in his car. The 28-year-old singer was travelling in his Mahindra Thar SUV to visit his aunty in Barnala when he was shot dead in broad daylight.

The singer’s friends Gurvinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, who were also present in the car along with the singer, survived the grusome attack. Gurvinder Singh saw the attack from the backseat and has revealed how it all unfolded.

Moose Wala did not take his security along as five people could not be accommodated in the jeep, according to his friend. His father Balkaur Singh had told the police that he was following Sidhu Moose Wala in another car with the two security personnel.

The moment Moose Wala arrived at his aunt's village, a shot was fired from behind the vehicle and another car stopped his jeep from the front.

An assailant with an automatic assault rifle came in front of the car and began firing shots indiscriminately, Gurvinder Singh said. The 28-year-old singer also fired two rounds from his pistol, which was later recovered from his vehicle, however it was no match for the sophisticated assault rifles.

Gurvinder Singh said that the attackers joined in from three sides and firing carried on. Moose Wala made an attempt to flee but was unsuccessful, he added.

The singer was shot more than 30 times by around eight to 10 attackers, police sources had earlier said. Even after firing that many rounds, the assailants checked if he was alive or not, they said.

Cartridges recovered from the crime spot in Punjab's Mansa district indicate that AN 94 Russian assault rifle was also used in the attack.

The singer's father witnessed the gruesome attack and took the singer to the hospital. He later filed a complaint with the police.

Two vehicles, a SUV and a sedan were waiting on the road; each had four armed men inside, the complaint says. The men sprayed bullets at the car Moose Wala was in, it adds.

"Within minutes, the cars sped away. I started shouting and people gathered. I rushed my son and his friends to the hospital where he died," the complaint mentions.

The police complaint filed by the singer's father mentions that several gangsters had threatened him over the phone.

A suspect held in Uttarakhand was the first to be nabbed in the case. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered a probe into why the popular singer's security was removed. He was on the list of 424 people whose security cover was withdrawn by the Punjab police few days ago.

Gangster Goldy Brar took responsibility for Moose Wala's murder on Facebook. Goldy Brar is a close aide of dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was taken out of Tihar jail yesterday for interrogation.
