Tamil Nadu shocker: Man stabs class 11 girl 14 times for rejecting his proposal
In a horrifying incident reported from Tamil Nadu’s Trichy, A 16-year-old girl was stabbed 14 times by a 22-year-old man for refusing to accept his proposal. The man was identified as Kesavan and police are looking for him.
The girl, a native of Athikulam in Trichy, was studying in Class 11. After finishing her exams, the victim was on the way to meet her relative, when she was stopped by the accused, identified as Kesavan, near a railway overpass.
Kesavan had been stalking the minor girl. A relative of the victim said that Kesavan was already booked and arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) for kidnapping the same girl in June 2021. He was recently freed from jail.
On the day of the crime, the accused told the girl that he was in love with her. When the girl turned him down, Kesavan stabbed her 14 times even before the victim could call out for help. He then fled from the spot, leaving the knife at the crime spot.
Police identified the accused as Kesavan, a native of Pothamettupatti, Trichy, and are looking for him.
Karur Congress leader, Jothimani, tweeted about the horrifying crime and said that she was shocked to hear that a schoolgirl had been stabbed 14 times. She further added that she had spoken to the District Superintendent of Police (SP) who mentioned that three special teams had been formed to trace and arrest the accused.
“We are upset every time such atrocities occur, but we get over it. Such crimes only raise from the notion that a woman is simply a body who should agree with a man with no self-conscience. Such rampant mindset in the society must be changed through education along with harsher punishments,” Jothimani wrote.
The accused stabbed a minor victim 14 times for refusing to accept his proposal. He is absconding and three special teams are making an attempt to arrest him.
However, the accused was found dead on a railway track on Tuesday.
As police formed three teams to trace and arrest the accused identified as Kesavan, they were alerted about a dead body on the railway tracks near Manapparai.
The cops retrieved a cellphone from near the dead body and brought in Kesavan's father, who identified the corpse.
