The latest survey conducted by the India Today group under the name of mood of the nation came up as an alarm for the Bharatiya Janata Party as the survey shows a fall in the graph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity in whose name the party has been winning the elections.

According to the survey, Modi’s popularity witnessed 4% slide in his popularity falling down from 53% in January 2018 to 49% July 2018.

The popularity of Modi was 40% in February 2016 and it increased to 50% in August 2016. In January 2017, it was 65% and it decreased in January 2018 to 53%. It slipped to 49% in July 2018.

Surprisingly, whenever the graph of Modi’s popularity goes down, Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s popularity increased. In January 2017, Rahul’s popularity was 10%, in January 2018; it increased to 22 % and in July 2018, his popularity was 27%.

It is the first time in the last two years when PM Modi’s popularity rating has gone down below 50%. Demonetization played key role in falling the popularity graph. At time of demonetization, PM’s popularity was all-time high. It saw 12% fall from 65% to 53%.

According to political analysts, the popularity of PM Modi plays significant role in winning elections for the BJP, the party which ruling over 20 states.
