Mizoram Election Results 2018: After 10 years gap, Mizo National Front all set to form govt in the state
Early trend of election results showed in Mizoram that the Mizo National Front (MNF) is all set to make its comeback after a gap of 10 years in the state.
As per the live results, the current Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has lost its reign where he was previously leading in the Serchhip seat.
MNF’s general secretary Lalruatkima said that MNF will form the government in the state. He also added that Pu Zoramthanga will be the new chief minister of Mizoram.
The general secretary also cited that the due to the anti-incumbency factor, lack of development, bad roads etc are the loopholes of the current government due to such issues, MNF will make its comeback to the state.
After two rounds of counting, MNF leading in 23 seats of 40 seats and defeated Congress, which has been in power since 2008 in the state.
Bhartiya Janata Party, which had never won a seat in Mizoram to form the government has won its first seat with a win in Tuichawng, where BD Chakma was ahead of MNF candidate.
The ZPM was formed last year after seven smaller parties came together to form a party. Earlier, ZPM was leading in eight seats.
However, the celebration at MNF headquarters all set to begin as party workers have gathered at the office because of the early trends.
MNF worker C Lalrinpuii has said that they have worked hard for this day and very happy with the results. He also added that the party is confident to form the government in the state as the voters were fed up with Congress rule for 10 years.
