Maharashtra: Transgender killed by live-in partner
A shocking incident has emerged from Maharashtra’s Thane district in which a 30-year-old transgender was bludgeoned to death by another trans on May 1.
According to the police, both the trans were in a relationship and lived together in the Ghaibi Nagar locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bhiwandi town police station.
Police stated that the two used to fight on petty issues and one such fight escalated yesterday afternoon, at around 1:30 pm, in which one of the transgender hit the other with a floor tile and fled the scene.
A trans person from the same locality told the media that neighbours tried to intervene and stop the fight but the accused drove them away, saying that it was their personal matter.
Police have registered a case against the transgender under section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a hunt to nab the accused is on.
The body of the transgender has been sent for the autopsy.
Further investigation is underway.
