A lot of new actors, singers etc have joined a new line in their by stepping into the politics world, one of which is Sunny Deol. The Gadar actor has now become a Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) candidate for the Gurdaspur parliamentary seat, who will today file his nomination from the constituency. Before doing the same, Deol visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar and offered prayers.
The actor, who himself is a Sikh by religion, was seen in a blue turban and a blue shirt with folded hands inside the shrine complex of the 'Harmandir Sahib' along with his supporters. Later the actor left for Gurdaspur from where he had to file the papers accompanied by his father and veteran actor Dharmendra and brother Bobby Deol. Not only them even Kavita Khanna, wife of former Gurdaspur MP late Vinod Khanna and Union Minister Jitendra Singh will remain with the actor.
The 62 year old actor met Narendra Modi on Sunday after which the Prime Minister shared a picture on his Twitter account with a caption saying that the actor impressed him with his passion for a better India. He wrote alongside the picture, "What struck me about @iamsunnydeol is his humility and deep passion for a better India. Happy to have met him today. We are all rooting for his victory in Gurdaspur! We both agree- हिन्दुस्तान जिंदाबाद था, है, और रहेगा!"
Actor Sunny Deol is quite a popular name of the industry who has done popular movies such as, Border, Betaab, Gadar-Ek Prem Katha, Ghayal etc. Previously the constituency was represented by veteran actor Vinod Khanna who won four times in years 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014 on BJP ticket. This time Deol will have competition from Punjab Congress president and present MP Sunil Jakhar.
