After announcing his entry into politics, actor Prakash Raj has said that he would contest from the Bengaluru Central seat as an independent candidate.
Raj, who has been critical of the PM Narendra Modi and his ideological guru RSS, had announced on January 1 that he would be contesting the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 and he would enter the world of politics, and stated that “abki baar janta ki sarkar (this time, it will be the people's government)”
Prakash Raj thanked his fans and other people for their wishes and the encouraging words through Twitter, where Prakash wrote, “2019 PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS. Thank you for the warm and encouraging response to my new journey.. I will be contesting from BENGALURU CENTRAL constituency KARNATAKA as an INDEPENDENT..will share the Details with the media in few days.”
The actor-turned-politician will be contesting against the BJP’s PC Mohan, who has won from the particular seat of Bengaluru Central since 2009 Lok Sabha election, would be tough fight to see.
The Aam Aadmi Party led by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has welcomed Prakash Raj in politics and said that it is a very good decision by the actor to challenge the dispensation through political route.
Earlier, the AAP had also welcomed after meeting Kamal Hassan, when he announced to enter the politics and form his own party MNM and his party would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The South Indian actors have in last one year treaded the path of politics where the superstar Rajnikanth also announced his entry into politics.
