Lok Sabha 2019: Congress to go alone in UP after Mayawati-Akhilesh Yadav snub, 'Mahagathbandhan' feels the crack
As the 2019 election is approaching, the seat sharing deal for the Uttar Pradesh between the SP and the BSP is on but both the parties have snubbed the Congress, who will be going alone in the polls.
Earlier, the BSP-SP had met to sort out the seat sharing deal and decide upon the Grand Alliance with the RLD and Congress. Although, both the state parties have snubbed the Congress party and decided to with Rashtriya Lok Dal which might get 3 seats in the offing.
PL Puniya, in an interview to the NDTV said, “A coalition is not important... Our workers are ready... We have not spoken to anyone about an alliance.”
Although, commenting upon the issue earlier, former CM of Uttar Pradesh and SP supremo, Akhilesh Yadav had said, “Thanks to the Congress, they did not make our vidhayak (legislator) a minister,” he had told reporters last week. “By doing so, the Congress had cleared the path for Uttar Pradesh.”
Mahendra Nath Pandey, UP BJP chief, reacted upon the issue and said that “the upcoming election with be Prime Minister Narendra Modi versus all. Let Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati form their alliance. The BJP's alliance is with the people of the nation.”
Now, the Uttar Pradesh politics will change altogether as after BJP losing in the Hindi heartland and CM Yogi Adityanath losing the grip of the state, the contest on 80 seats will be a one to watch out for. Congress can claim victory in Rae Bareli and Amethi as SP-BSP alliance have decided not field any candidate from those constituencies.
