Jharkhand Shocker: Milkman rapes 7-year-old girl

A 40-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the rape of a seven-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said on May 8.

The incident occurred on the night of May 6 while the girl was alone at home and her parents were out for work.

According to the police, the accused man visited the girl's home to deliver milk while she was alone. He lured her by showing something on his mobile phone and then took her to a nearby under-construction house where he allegedly committed the heinous crime.

"The girl was alone at home when the accused came to her residence to supply milk. She was lured with a promise of showing something on the milkman's mobile phone. The accused took her to an adjacent under-construction house where he allegedly committed the crime," PTI quoted Additional Superintendent of Police Rishav Garg as saying.

The parents of the victim filed a complaint at the Town Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused man, who was subsequently sent to jail yesterday.

ASP Garg stated that the minor girl was taken to Medininagar Medical College and Hospital for examination.

The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
