Javadpur University professor Kanak Sarkar, who was roasted on social media over his remark on girl’s virginity. Sarkar in his Facebook post compared to woman’s virginity with a “sealed bottle and ‘Packet”. In an another Facebook post, a journalist alleged that Sarkar said a student, that her figure is like a model and men would enjoy it.
In her Facebook post, Adrija Chatterjee, a senior correspondent, wrote what Kanak Sarkar, professor of prestigious Javadkar University told a student.
"I was giving a presentation in class one day and this man interrupted me in the middle, and I thought it was to ask me a question. However, to my absolute dismay, he asked me if I want to grow up and become a model since my "figure" is very model like. He also asked me if I have a lot of male friends because according to him, I'm what men would "enjoy".
How are we allowing such professors to carry on?”
The student alleged this happened while she was giving a presentation in class. "My HOD, in front of a class of 52 students...reduced me to nothing," she added.
Recently, Prof Kanak Sarkar has written several controversial Facebook posts on the topic of a woman's virginity. Most of his posts and contain misogynistic and sexist comments.
Prof Sarkar post, "Virgin Bride - Why Not?" calling boys to fool over being not aware of virgin wife or girl. A professor at the university's international relations, Kanak Sarkar, had written in the post that, "Virgin girl is like a sealed bottle or sealed packet. Are you willing to buy a broken seal while purchasing a bottle of cold drinks or a packet of biscuits... To most boys, the virgin wife is like an angel."
According to Jadavpur University's website, Kanak Sarkar's specialisation includes political sociology, political thought, the Constitution and government, human rights and law, development administration, and ethnicity and terrorism.
