J-K: Alert sounded after AK 47 stolen from Rajouri police station
The Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir has been put on high alert after the weapon of a policeman was stolen from the station itself on Monday.
The police said that an AK 47 rifle of a police personnel has been stolen. Hunt is on for the weapon as well as the culprit, while the entire area has been put on a high alert.
Earlier this month, a large cache of arms and ammunition, including 35 assorted rifles belonging to the police went missing in south Kashmir.
Among the arms and ammunition that are still untraced are 21 INSAS rifles, 12 SLR rifles, two AK 47 rifles, one Light Machine Gun and three Carbine Machine Guns.
Incidents of gun snatching are notorious in the Valley, as several cases have been reported of terrorists or gunmen barging into police stations and wresting the weapons from the personnel
