Delhi Hit And Drag Case: Nirbhaya's mother meets victim's family
Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi on January 5 met with the family of Sultanpuri accident victim Anjali Singh, who died after being dragged for several kilometers by a car in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Nirbhaya was gang-raped by six men on December 16 2012. She was mercilessly tortured and raped in the national capital in a moving bus and thrown off on the roadside to die. The family fought a decade-long battle to bring justice to their child.
Asha Devi met with Anjali’s mother and paid her condolences. The visit of the 2012 gang-rape victim’s mother is an assurance that people are with her and sympathize with him.
"I request authorities to investigate the case & support family financially. Job should be given to the family member as soon as possible. I do not put allegations on anyone but I do not support what that girl (Nidhi) has said in her statement,"said Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi after meeting Anjali's family.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister met Anjali’s family and listened to their grievances.
“The condition of the family is not good and we will see if a family member can be give a job as the girl was the only earning member: Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia visits Kanjhawala residence,” Sisodia said after meeting Anjali’s family.
Recently, the Delhi Government has announced to give Rs 10 lakh to the deceased woman’s family.
Meanwhile, in the preliminary forensic findings it is revealed that the body of the 20-year-old woman was stuck under the left front wheel and blood stains were found on parts under the vehicle, according to preliminary forensic findings.
A team involving Forensic members and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Harendra Kumar Singh re-examined the car involved in the accident and recreated the crime scene.
Yesterday, the autopsy report ruled out sexual assault on deceased woman.
Anjali Singh, who worked for an event management company, died in agony after her scooter collided with a car, her clothes entangled in the wheels, due to which she was dragged for several kilometers in the Khanjawala area.
Police are investigating the case from all angles.
