Coronavirus in India: Total cases climb to 3,072, death toll at 75
Total number of coronavirus cases in India has jumped to 3072, and death toll has reached 75, as per the latest data by the Health Ministry. As many as 212 people have revovered and have been discharged.
The centre on Friday released Rs 17,287 crore to states for their disaster reduction programmes and as revenue deficit grant. “This includes Rs 6,195.08 crore on account of ‘revenue deficit grant’ under 15th Finance Commission recommendations to 14 states,” finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on her Twitter handle.
The Modi led central government has given Rs 11,092 croreas the first instalment in Financial Year 21 to the State Disaster Response Mitigation Fund of 28 states. The revenue deficit grants aree for states such as West Bengal, Tamil Nau, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala for April.
In the meantime, during a meeting, it was observed that there are between 20,000 and 30,000 ventilators that may be lying dysfunctional across the nation. This includes both private and public sector hospital. The meeting was presided over by the NITI Aayog CEO Amithbh Kant on Wednesday.
